Cala Carbo

One of Ibiza's most private little beaches. Turn left at the signpost on the San Jose to Cala Vadella road. A small, sheltered sandy cove surrounded by rocky, pine clad hills. A combination of sand and pebbles under shallow waters near the shore. Good moorings for private boats and limited car parking. Reached by car on good road, and private boat.

Cala Conta Cla Conte

Two stretches of sandy beach, backed by rocky terrain, with a third, smaller beach at the far end, reached by steps hewn into the rock. No shade, so take cover-ups. The shallow waters near the shore are safe for children. The views from above the beach, across to the islands and the changing colours of the sea, are beautiful. Reached by ferry, bus or car.

Cala Tarida

Sheltered by a backdrop of well urbanised hills, this is the longest and widest beach, of fine white sand, this side of the island. The clean, clear waters over a sandy bottom are shallow to quite a way out on the right, deeper and more pebbly to the left. Interestingly shaped rocks to swim out to for a solitary sunbathe. No shade so take cover-ups. Reached by bus or car on a good road; ferry.

Cala Salada

Just to the north of San Antonio. Larger than a cove, a sandy beach with rocky intervals, surrounded by steep, forested hills. A lovely adventure spot for walks. Strong swimmers reach the small strip of sand past the rocks on the right for a private sunbathe. Reached by car or private boat.

Cala Vadella

Breathtaking views as you swoop around and down to this protected Bay, surrounded by pine clad hills, ideal for walks. The big, wide beach of fine white sand slopes gently into shallow waters close to shore - good for fun and games with the children - then shelves suddenly, causing perfect breakers for surf jumping. Further out, the protected Bay is suitable for learning to windsurf. The cool, terraced Water Garden at one end of the beach has shops and restaurants. Good tarmac road and scenic driving.

San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany)

There is no beach in the town itself though there are numerous thin strips of sandy beach starting from the outskirts of the town and stretching all along the bay. The bay area beaches, on the whole, are gently sloping, thus enabling safe bathing and paddling. This resort is aimed chiefly at the 18-30's age group. There are a multitude of bars, fun-pubs and discos, and there are also several large clubs.
The Bay area facing St Antonio is aimed more at families and is far quieter than the town. Here the accent is on beaches, value for money restaurants and children friendly pubs. That said, the Bay area is well developed and can be lively in high season. Small ferries bob across and around the bay throughout the day and early evening.

Port d'es Torrent

Situated on the bay of San Antonio. It has a smallish but wide, curved sandy beach with pebble bottom, shallow waters close to shore. Overlooked by holiday apartment blocks. Reached by ferry, bus or car.
